Calligraphy Art & Workshop

A memorable experience in Kanazawa through calligraphy art at a traditional temple

This is a calligraphy art workshop that can be experienced at Hokku-ji Temple, a temple built by Kitakata Shinsen, a representative calligrapher of the Meiji era (1868-1912). The instructor will be a priest of Hokku-ji Temple. Through calligraphy, you will have time to face yourself and make memories in Kanazawa. If you wish to have a sutra copying, it can be arranged during the workshop time.

We also offer an optional Buddhist experience at Shinsen that includes how to hold prayer beads, how to burn incense, sutra reading, and a petit Buddhist lecture all in one package. The time commitment is approximately 60 minutes for the "Shinsen Art" calligraphy art workshop and approximately 30 minutes for the Shinsen Buddhist experience. Please make a reservation in advance.
