Important Cultural Property, established in 1788.
Ishikawamon Gate, located to the east of the Kanazawa Castle Park, is an Important Cultural Property. It is said to have been named due to its direction facing Ishikawa District. The gate was completely destroyed in the Great Fire of 1797, but it was rebuilt during the reign of the 11th feudal lord, MAEDA Shigehiro. After undergoing several repairs, it has taken its current form. Set amidst abundant greenery, the grand structure exudes the dignity of the Million Koku (a unit of rice production) and is particularly striking when illuminated at night, creating a fantastical atmosphere.
