One of the most accessible Japanese tea experiences in Kanazawa!

Not far from the heart of the city, take a break to enjoy the tea ceremony in a casual and friendly way!

Ideally located in the heart of Kanazawa, just a couple of blocks away from Kenrokuen Garden, Sofuan Kenrokumotomachi is a nice and cozy

Japanese house. Besides being easily reachable from any of the city’s major

sightseeing spots, the facility is sort of a friendly hub to anyone willing to deepen their Kanazawa discovery by adding on

some cultural experiences to the visit. In addition to a fun calligraphy hands-on, the host of the place, who is fluent in

English, welcomes you to attend yet another casual and friendly gathering, centered this time around the art of the Japanese

tea ceremony.

Here there is no need to be an expert, nor to feel intimidated by how strict this quintessentially Japanese art may appear at

first glance. Sofuan wishes to simply keep to the essence of the tea ceremony. Heartful and sober hospitality. So, sit down

comfortably while paying earnest attention to what is around you: the lovely confectioneries served in front of you, the

artistry of the utensils, the beauty of a Japanese garden seen from the inside, the lattices and patterns on the windows, the

hanging scroll and flower arrangements. A whole microcosm of artefacts paying respect to the beauty of nature and its

seasons. Relaxing and experiencing the magic of the moment represents everything about the Japanese way of hospitality

and Sofuan is one of the best places around to offer it in the most authentic way possible.
