Hanashobu-en Iris Garden (in Utatsuyama Park)
Breathtakingly beautiful 200 thousand Japanese irises and 2,900 hydrangeas
"Hanashobu-en", or Japanese iris garden with beautiful Hanashobu irises and hydrangeas, which is in full bloom from mid-June to mid-July.
The garden is located inside Utatsuyama Park. Built halfway up Mt. Utatsuyama, the garden is divided into three sections: the upper with terraced Japanese iris beds, the middle consisting of Japanese irises and a brook, and the lower with Japanese irises and a pond. The garden has been planted with 200 thousand Japanese irises of 100 varieties, as well as some 2,900 hydrangeas.
