Experience traditional stencil dyeing with ease – take your finished work home the same day.
Kitamura Dyeing Studio is a small workshop housed in a 50-year-old dyeing atelier, preserved in its original style.
Here, you can casually experience katazome (stencil dyeing) using traditional tools such as authentic Ise-katagami stencils actually used by craftsmen.
The workshop lasts about 90 minutes. Choose a stencil, transfer the pattern onto fabric, and finish it with guidance from the craftsman. Even first-time visitors can enjoy the process with ease.
Your work will be completed on the spot and ready to take home, making it a perfect memory or souvenir of your trip.
The experience is open to solo travelers as well as couples and friends—everyone is welcome.
