Yachiya Sake Brewery
Take a tour and taste sake at a Kaga Domain sake brewery!
Yachiya Sake Brewery began in 1583, when its founder, “KAMIYACHIYA Jin-emon”, moved from Owari(present Nagoya), accompanying Lord Maeda Toshiie, the founder of the Kaga domain, to brew sake exclusively for his lord.
In 1628, the brewery received the sake name “Kagatsuru” from his lordship, which was named after the house name “Yachiya”, “Kaga” for the country of Kaga, and “Tsuru” for the congratulatory spirit “Tsuru(crane)”.
The sake brewery was built in the middle of the Edo period and has a unique surface finish called “chonna shave,” which is a rough, rough plane. The main building also retains the appearance of a typical merchant house, and is designated as a Tangible Cultural Property by the Agency for Cultural Affairs.
You can also take a tour of the brewery. (Charged / Reservations required / Mon-Sat / (1) 10:30am - (2) 1:30pm - (3) 3:00pm - (40 minutes including tasting)
