Kosaka Shrine
Although it was repeatedly destroyed by fire during periods of conflict in the medieval era, Kosaka Shrine was rebuilt on its present site in 1636 by Lord MAEDA Toshitsune, the third lord of the Kaga Domain. Since then, it has been revered not only by the feudal lords but also by the general public as a guardian shrine for the northern area of Kanazawa.
As one of the Five Great Shrines of Kanazawa, Kosaka Shrine holds a significant place in the city’s spiritual heritage.
On the stone steps leading up to the shrine, you will find a haiku monument dedicated to the most famous poet MATSUO Bashō, offering a poetic connection to the site’s rich history.
