Japanese Calligraphy Class in the Heart of Kanazawa!
A Mindful Japanese Calligraphy Experience. Write Your Very Own Name in Kanjis!
Calligraphy is an important art form in Japan with a long history. It originated shortly after the introduction of the Chinese writing system, and even today, every child must learn these skills throughout their school years. People believe that you can tell a person's character by how they write and that you can feel the emotions the writer was experiencing when looking at a character.
Join us for this calligraphy class and learn how to write your name in Japanese! The instructor will select Japanese characters with beautiful meanings to form your name!
After practicing writing your own name, if time allows, you can choose a character that reflects how you feel that day. For example, “桜” (cherry blossom) after a day of flower viewing, or “風” (wind) on a hot day.
Location
The studio is located just a short walk from Kanazawa Station (about 10 min), in a quiet but charming shopping street next to the Higashibetsuin Temple. A perfect location for you to explore the local community before or after the class. There are no calligraphy supply stores nearby, but materials can be purchased at our classroom.
If you are interested in taking it a step further, you are also welcome to explore the city on your own—for instance, you may buy a frame at Iwamoto Kiyoshi Shoten, known for Kanazawa kiri (paulownia) woodcraft, or purchase paper at a local stationery shop.
When making a reservation, please provide the information below:

About payment
Once your reservation has been confirmed, we will send you a link so that you can settle the payment online 2 days prior to the class date.
Notes:
・Regarding small children:
This is a very kid-friendly class, so please feel free to bring them! For children under 5, since calligraphy with normal ink might be difficult. For young children, we use a special water-based calligraphy set instead of ink, allowing them to write safely with water.
・You will be writing with ink, and it might stain your clothes, so please wear something that you don't mind getting dirty!
How about a class to create an unforgettable memory to bring back home with you? We are looking forward to seeing you at the class!
