Kanazawa Geigi no Mai
Special performances of dancing, taiko drumming, and ozashiki games by Kanazawa Geisha
In the three teahouse districts of "Higashi," "Nishi," and "Kazue" where the old townscape still remains, Kanazawa Geisha practice daily and carry on the tradition. Their highly polished traditional arts are highly appreciated both in Japan and abroad, and attract many people.
We hope you will take this opportunity to attend a special performance by Kanazawa Geisha who have trained day in and day out, and experience their dance, flute, shamisen (three-stringed Japanese banjo), and other performances, as well as their ozashiki (tatami room) games.
Explanations and commentary on teahouse culture and Kanazawa geisha will be included, and you will be able to take pictures with the geisha during the playtime.
During the period of the concert at Hougaku Hall of the Prefectural Music Hall, "backstage tours" will be held 10 times in total after the performance. Please experience the authentic stage functions that the Traditional Japanese Music Hall is proud of.
*November 13, 27, and 29 only at Ishikawa Prefectural Museum of Art Hall.
Please check the official website for the dates of the backstage tours.
