Asanogawa River "Koinagashi"

An event unique to Kanazawa, based on a traditional Japanese custom

An event in which "Koinobori" (carp streamers) that are usually flown in the air are placed in the river to pray for the healthy growth of children. The appearance of the carp streamers in the river is reminiscent of the "Yuzen Nagashi" process, in which the dye used in the traditional Kanazawa craft of Kaga Yuzen is washed away in the river.
