Kaga Mizuhiki Tsuda Mizuhiki
The long-established store and origin of Mizuhiki
Mizuhiki can also be referred to as traditional Japanese wrapping. The basic procedure is to wrap with Japanese paper, tie with Mizuhiki, and write with a brush to describe the feelings of the giver. About a century ago, Kanazawa’s Sokichi Tsuda created a three dimensional folding pattern of Japanese paper, which had been a flat design until then, and evolved the Mizuhiki string work into a shaped knot. Mizuhiki received high evaluation in the art field and numerous honors such as being presented to the Imperial household. Kaga Mizuhiki has been handed down over five generations and is evolving while preserving the essence of Mizuhiki. At this store, the workshop and sales floor are integrated, allowing you to catch a glimpse of the techniques and beauty in the store.
