MIZUHIKI craft necklace making workshop

This is a hands-on mizuhiki workshop at Tsuda Mizuhiki Orikata

Tsuda Mizuhiki Orikata is a renowned and historic shop with over 100 years of experience in the mizuhiki craft. The workshop will take place in a gallery space showcasing the works.

Workshop Flow:

1. Choose between making a flower mizuhiki necklace or a ball (awajidama) necklace.

2. Select your preferred color of mizuhiki material (string) and create either a flower or a ball craft. If two strands of mizuhiki are used, the flower will measure approximately 1.5 cm in diameter. If three strands are used, the diameter will be approximately 2 cm. The awajidama will be created with one strand of mizuhiki (one color).

3. Attach necklace clasps to the finished mizuhiki craft to complete it.

Note: The flower and ball mizuhiki crafts are made using the basic "Awaji-knot." After learning how to make them, you can create various mizuhiki accessories such as necklaces, hair accessories, hairpins, key chains, chopstick rests, etc. by changing the metal fittings and parts.

Additionally, other items are available to make on the day of the event after viewing samples.

The Tsuda Mizuhiki store (1st Floor) offers more than 100 colors of mizuhiki material (strings) for sale. Additionally, the store features Tsuda Mizuhiki's accessory brand "knot", congratulatory gift bags (noshi-bukuro), and mizuhiki artwork, which are all on display and available for purchase.
