This special tour takes you to a traditional taiko drum workshop, where you can observe skilled artisans at work and experience playing drums that reflect the local rhythm and spirit of the region. You’ll also enjoy a meal and sake tasting at a rare restaurant located inside a sake brewery. The art of taiko making here began when the feudal lord of Kanazawa invited leather craftsmen to produce materials for armor, which later evolved into drum making. Today, this area produces about 60% of Japan’s large taiko drums. The sake brewed in nearby Hakusan City is known as Kaga no Kikuzake, a refined sake once enjoyed by feudal lords during cherry blossom celebrations, and it remains one of Kanazawa’s most iconic local drinks.
