Kanazawa Story: Samurai Culture, Taiko & Sake from Tsuzumi Gate
Discover the hidden story behind Kanazawa’s iconic Tsuzumi Gate through taiko, sake, and samurai culture.
Discover the cultural story of Kanazawa through samurai heritage, taiko drums, and Japanese sake on this premium cultural experience tour.
Your journey begins at the iconic Tsuzumi Gate at Kanazawa Station, inspired by traditional hand drums deeply connected to Kanazawa’s samurai culture. Through this tour, you will experience how taiko and sake continue to shape the cultural identity of Kanazawa today.
The first destination is Asano Taiko, a world-renowned taiko drum maker with over 400 years of history. Guided by skilled artisans, you will visit a workshop normally closed to the public and learn about the craftsmanship behind traditional taiko drums. Enjoy a welcome performance by a professional taiko performer and take part in a hands-on taiko drumming experience.
Next, visit a local sake brewery to discover Japanese sake brewing and the unique character of sake from this region. Pure underground water from snow-covered mountains and fertile rice-growing lands have long produced refined sake enjoyed in Kanazawa for generations.
The tour concludes at a beautifully renovated restaurant inside this former sake brewery. Enjoy a refined 10-course French-style kaiseki meal made with local ingredients while experiencing the atmosphere of the historic brewery space.
This premium experience includes English guidance, cultural activities, dinner, and transportation, with drop-off at Kanazawa Station or hotels within Kanazawa City.
