Takaoka Mikurumayama Festival

A UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, Important Tangible Folk Cultural Asset, and Important Intangible Folk Cultural Asset.

Held annually on May 1st at Takaoka Sekiya Shrine in Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture, this spring festival is the oldest and most historic festival of its kind in Toyama. Seven ornate floats, known as "Mikurumayama," parade through the historic streets of Takaoka, accompanied by graceful music and chants.
