Breakfast in Kanazawa: A slightly luxurious Japanese-style breakfast!

【Kenrokutei】Two types of morning meals in the famous Kenrokuen Garden

Kenrokutei, located in front of the oldest fountain in Japan and one of the most famous landmarks in Kenrokuen Garden, will reopen in 2022 with a new tea ceremony room for tea ceremonies and performing arts, and as a restaurant that conveys Kanazawa's food and culture. Two types of breakfasts are available in a relaxed atmosphere: “Jibuni set with freshly cooked rice in an earthenware pot” and “Okayu(rice porriage) set with fragrant Kaga-bocha green tea. It is one of the rare places where you can enjoy breakfast while gazing at the magnificent view of the famous Kenrokuen Garden.


The restaurant is located in the Kenrokuen Garden, so a separate entrance fee is required when visiting. If you wish to eat only without visiting Kenrokuen, please inform the restaurant in advance.

*Advance reservations are required. Please make a reservation by 3:00 p.m. the day before.

【Hibi-sakanazuki Tohboku】Luxurious morning meal at a popular kappo restaurant

Hibi-Sakanazuki Tohboku is a kappo(Japanese style) restaurant where you can enjoy the marriage of Japanese cuisine and sake prepared by a chef who is a certified sake taster and sommelier. Breakfast is served only on Sundays. The rice is made from Inahosha's “Gin no Tombo(silver dragonfly)” rice, which is carefully grown with 90% organic fertilizers and reduced use of agricultural chemicals, and cooked in a rice oven. After the meal, a sweet dish made with homemade tofu is also available. Reservations are required by the day before for the Sunday breakfast, which is served in two parts: from 8:00 a.m. and from 9:00 a.m. You can enjoy a special holiday morning to the fullest.

【Nohka Banzai Tonariya】Blackthroat seabass Breakfast at Omicho Market

Nouka Banzai Tonariya is a restaurant specializing in rice cooked with black throat seabass located in Omicho Market, the kitchen of Kanazawa citizens. The famous “nodoguro gohan” (rice cooked with freshly cooked black throat seabass) can be enjoyed in three different ways: first, as it is cooked, then with salmon roe and condiments added for a richer flavor, and finally in a chazuke style(rice with tea poured on it) with a special broth made from the its born. For those who have little time to spare, a breakfast-only “Nodoguro Dashi Chazuke” (Black throat seabass  soup with broth) is also available.

【Sorashio】Breakfast with side-dish meal made from carefully selected local ingredients

Sorashio is a Japanese restaurant supervised by “Omisoshiru Shokudo Sora Miso,” a popular restaurant in the Kanaiwa area. Located on the first floor of Hotel SOKI KANAZAWA, right next to Omicho Market, the restaurant has two faces: “Sorashio” serves Japanese food and Hokuriku sake in the evening, and “Sorashio” is open to non-guests in the morning. The restaurant serves only one type of breakfast, which is available by reservation only. The breakfast includes a variety of seasonal dishes, such as rice cooked with rice produced in the prefecture, miso soup, grilled fish, and a beautiful wooden box filled with a variety of seasonal dishes that will please both the eyes and the palate.

【Restauant Kanazawa Suju】A happy day begins with rice milled in the restaurant and cooked in a copper cauldron, and aromatic miso soup

Opened in September 2024 in an excellent location overlooking the Ishikawa Gate of Kanazawa Castle and the hill leading to Kenrokuen Garden.


Open from 7:00 to 10:30 (L.O. 9:30), no advance reservations are required.


Freshly-polished rice cooked in a copper pot and miso soup with plenty of ingredients, served with homemade pickles. For the main dish, you can choose from home-made dried local fish or grilled chicken with miso marinated in Shinshu miso.


※Western-style breakfast is available in addition to Japanese-style breakfast.

 Western-style breakfast includes toasted bread, egg dishes, and special sausages made by BREAD IT BE, a bakery in Kamakura.
