With the aim of spreading awareness that jazz can be a tool for education, world peace, solidarity and mutual dialogue, the UNESCO General Conference in 2011 proclaimed 30 April as "International Jazz Day".

With the cooperation of participating performers and sponsors who support the aim of International Jazz Day, which states that "Jazz is the common language of the world, it is essentially the music of peace, and jazz has never been more meaningful than it is today", this year's event will be held in association with the Gargan Music Festival 2023 to provide opportunities to become familiar with jazz and to communicate the appeal of jazz.
