Hokuriku Shinkansen extension! Travel in Hokuriku is much more convenient to Kanazawa, Kaga and Fukui!
On 16 March 2024, the Hokuriku Shinkansen Line will be extended to Tsuruga, opening the door to a new travel experience.
This extension will shorten the journey from Kanazawa to Fukui to a maximum of 23 minutes (when using the Hokuriku Shinkansen Kagayaki), access from Kanazawa to Kaga Onsen and Fukui Prefecture's famous Eiheiji Temple and Tojinbo will also become even more convenient.
If you are coming from the Tokyo area, you can travel from Tokyo to Kanazawa in just 2 hours 27 minutes.
From Osaka, the Thunderbird and Hokuriku Shinkansen trains will take you from Osaka to Kanazawa in just 2 hours 09 minutes.
When enjoying Kanazawa's sights, we recommend a pleasant stay at the Kaga Onsen spa and a visit to the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum.

From 16th of March 2024, passengers who go to Kyoto/Osaka from Kanazawa and vice versa, need to change trains at Tsuruga.
